The story here goes that during a Permaculture Certification course I had the chance to meet some foreign officials of the Hatian government. I became interested in herbal electrolytes after reading about the cholera epidemic there in Haiti. Apparently diarrhea and cholera drain people of their hydration and they need electrolytes to rebound or at least survive. So they have a plant they use to get a ton of minerals. I read about this in different places but one of them was through an organization I volunteered for out on the Sioux Land of Pine Ridge.

Due to different reasons, I was recently diagnosed with chronic dehydration myself, some months ago. My spider senses tingled with the news from Haiti. Rehydration requires electrolytes! WELL. I wasn't about to walk down the road to my local Gatorade retailer so I opened the herb cabinet and I read on. Google basically says Electrolytes are minerals in your blood and other body fluids that carry an electric charge. I search for what blend of herbs might help here and after considerable effort wading through vitamin rich drinks, I found this link to a mineral rich blend: "Mother Earth Living" . Whaddyaknow, I had every herb the recipe called for, and that was not bad. For once I read a recipe and had all the ingredients.
